TODAY’S MESSAGE:

Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”

Pastor’s INSIGHT:

Friends,

This verse emphasizes the divine nature of Jesus Christ, portraying Him as the visible manifestation of God's glory. The verse declares that Jesus is the precise imprint of God's essence. The Greek term "charaktēr" used here refers to an engraving or stamp, indicating that Jesus embodies God's character and attributes fully.

Brothers and Sisters,

The verse highlights Christ's sustaining power over the universe, as He upholds ALL things by the power of His word. Jesus' role as the maintainer of creation is also affirmed in Colossians 1, where it states that in Him all things are held together. This reflects His divine authority and ongoing involvement in the world.

‭‭Church,

The purification theme is deeply rooted in the Old Testament sacrificial system, particularly in the Day of Atonement rituals (Leviticus 16). Jesus' sacrifice is seen as the fulfillment of these types, providing a once-for-all cleansing (Hebrews 9), as Jesus (God come in the flesh) laid down His own life as a living sacrifice for all of humanity’s sins.

Disciples,

Sitting at the right hand of God symbolizes a position of honor, power, and authority, where Christ is seated after His ascension. His position at God's right hand signifies His completed work (sacrifice and resurrection) and ongoing intercession for us. We can rest in the assurance of His finished work and His continual advocacy.
